Tara Lynn, LLC, a fashion house, and Big E’s Garage, a classic automotive shop, are looking for a part time Office Assistant to train in a combination of clerical tasks including bookkeeping and marketing. We are currently accepting applications for:
Job Title: Office Assistant
Reports to: Head Designer/ Owner of Tara Lynn, LLC and Big E’s Garage
Hours and Location: Part-time, in house, hourly position, 16 hours a week in Sutton, Vermont
Wage: Training starts at $15, increases to $20 per hour once trained and working independently.
Job Responsibilities
- Bookkeeping Assistant: includes entering charges, reconciling accounts, entering sales and deposits in QuickBooks desktop.
- Social Media Marketing Assistant: includes sizing images, writing content, uploading and scheduling posts.
- Shipping and Receiving: includes preparing outgoing mail and packages as well as sorting incoming mail and packages.
- Cleaning: includes vacuuming and dusting fashion studio weekly.
- Clerical Tasks: includes filing, answering phones, relaying and responding to messages.
- Website Content Management Assistant: includes uploading content to multiple websites.
- PR and Marketing Assistant: market research, spread sheet content and collaboration under close direction of Tara Lynn.
Vital Contributions
- Follows directions to provide efficient assistance to support two business owners, Tara Lynn of Tara Lynn, LLC and Evan of Big E’s Garage
- Consistency of all tasks, i.e. following social media schedule, keeping books current, timely correspondences to customers and vendors, etc.
Required Skills, Education and Certifications
- Knowledge of QuickBooks and or Excel
- Excellent writing, reading and grammar skills.
- Efficient in Microsoft office.
- Enjoys working on the computer.
- Educational background in marketing.
- Educational background in business, finance and or bookkeeping.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position is responsible for keeping the books up to date and following the marketing plan schedule as per the direction of the Creative Director, as well as working with and collaborating with Tara Lynn.
Work Environment
This job operates in a clean, well lit and intimate open studio environment with lots of natural light and windows. This role routinely uses a diverse array of equipment such as desktop, tablet, printers, digital cameras, scissors and other office supplies.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Job Title: Couture Seamstress & Tailor, Prototype Technician
Reports to: Tara Lynn Scheidet CEO/Creative Director
Hours and Location: Tuesday – Friday 10 AM – 4PM and occasionally evenings and weekends for fittings only when clients travel to us from out of town

Couture Seamstress Wanted, Tailoring credentials and experience as well as Prototype Technician experience needed for a fashion house in the beautiful Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Escape the city, find peace and fresh air doing what you love, sewing in Vermont.
Summary/Objective
The Couture Seamstress & Tailor is responsible for sewing made to order production of wedding dresses, suits, men’s and women’s jackets and children’s suits and dresses from start to finish. They work with the Creative Director making fit samples and to approve new patterns. They also execute artwork including but not limited to hand sewing, machine applique, and hand embroidery.
Job Responsibilities
- Sewing of wedding dresses, woven jackets, and other custom made women’s clothing
- Sewing and tailoring of men’s tailored suits, and women’s clothing
- Sewing of children’s suits & dresses
- Sewing all apparel fabric types from light weight knits and lace to chiffon and organza as well as twill and denim.
- Present at fittings to understand and assist in executing alterations
- Making and producing high quality art work with textiles including but not limited to hand made flowers, machine appliques, hand embroidery, fabric painting, crochet, lace applique etc.
- Measuring clients to ensure proper fit
- Cutting, hemming, execution of sewing steps, full construction of garments
- Working on overlock, industrial sewing machines, hemming feet, irons, 5 thread safety lock and machine button holes as well as grommet press.
- Hand tailoring stitches, assembling pockets, sewing in zippers, basting etc.
Vital Contributions
- Sewing responsibilities include full construction from start to finish of one of kind custom garments as well as small production runs, and proto types.
- Following Production Schedule and filling orders on time
Required Skills, Education and Certifications
- Experience working on overlock, industrial sewing machines, hemming feet, irons, 5 thread safety lock and machine button holes as well as grommet press
- 10 years’ experience sewing samples/garments full time
- Experience sewing wedding dresses or tailored suits a must
- Experience working for couture houses a plus

At any time if and when the company is trying to meet a deadline or accommodate a client that travels to Vermont for their fittings the employee might be asked work over time including night hours and weekends. They might also be asked to work with other staff and direct them in assisting with production or garment construction.

Hours of work and days are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The employee must be flexible to work occasional nights and weekends when clients come from out of town for fittings.
